Small series on forgiving

The Rolling with love

IF you are visiting with my new show,
"DO OVERS" 
you might notice a small collection of works connected by the imagery 
of embroidered 1970's era butterflies and flowers.

The images were made by my examination of a pillow my
mother made when I was a child.
My mom was excellent with needlework. This pillow is actually more playful than her usual pieces,
But in a sweet bright 70's colored way. Compared to her other works,
which were more classic in color and design. Yet, the stitching is complicated
and advanced, as you can see.

I have come to observe and be grateful for the beauty in these creations. 
I wonder where I was and what we were doing when they were made years ago.
Thinking through what a mom does and thinks and escapes or stays for. 
Aren't we complex?
Could you forgive a mom that disconnects from her children?
How about if she is makes beautiful things while she does?

I hope you can enjoy these paintings as I did making them. 
I grew to love the woman that created them, and me :) 
Forgiveness just follows.
