Thoughts on Etsy

I've used Etsy so long, it was just for handmade creator shops when I started!

It was a wild frontier on the internet, or at least Etsy felt that way when I opened my shop. The main rule you seemingly had to pinky promise to, was that your shop carried only items you made. Period. 
Then, there was a window open for Vintage shops. You must declare one or the other. Again, Promise the items fit under the classification of VINTAGE or antique. 
As the saying goes (right Gill?) " Things are not what they used to be."

I am starting to sell "Print on Demand" items now. (See previous Blog post) 
But my first sales had so many fees attached to it, my profit was a dollar each. :)) wow. 
I am grateful for the sales and I will always thrill at people living with my art.  It's worth it. 

But I feel strange being on the same platform as sellers asking 12 dollars to give their buyers a digital download of a Van Gogh self portrait because they can get it themselves for free on public domain sites. A high digital version for free... then turn it around and sell the FILE on etsy. It's mind boggling and I feel kinda gross being on the same platform as this, and some other gross behavior on there. 
Hmmm.... what to do so I can sell original  art with my prices being fair and competitive (I guess)
Just trying to sell my work on an easy platform that isn't freaky, For now, I hope etsy isn't too cheap morally, because it's surprisingly expensive to me in all the fees it charges on each sale. 
Sigh. ;p
